Voice bridge terms of service
Last updated: 2026-07-11. These terms govern your use of the hosted Nether Voice Bridge — a free community service that relays live voice between a Discord voice channel and a linked Matrix room (Element Call). By inviting the bridge’s bots to a server, linking a channel, or speaking in a bridged channel, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. See also the privacy policy.
Operator: Dark Collective (“we”), operating from the United States · Contact: [email protected]
The service
- The bridge relays live voice only, in real time, between a Discord voice channel and a linked Matrix room. It does not record, store, or transcribe audio — see the privacy policy for exactly what data is processed.
- It is provided free of charge, as a volunteer community project, with no warranty and no service-level guarantee.
- A link is only created with consent from both sides: a moderator of the Matrix room requests it and a person with Manage Server on the Discord side approves it. Its creation is disclosed in the channel.
Eligibility
You must meet Discord’s minimum age (13, or older where local law requires) and any age requirement of the Matrix room or community you use the bridge in (the nether.im community is 18+). You must have the authority to invite bots to, and bridge channels in, any Discord server you use this with.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the bridge to:
- relay or facilitate illegal content, harassment, threats, or content that violates Discord’s Terms or Community Guidelines, or the rules of the Matrix homeserver or room involved;
- bridge a channel or room without the required two-sided consent, or to circumvent the consent, opt-out, rate-limit, or deny-list mechanisms;
- disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure;
- impersonate others or misrepresent the source of relayed audio.
Any participant can exclude themselves from
relay at any time with
/bridge optout in a bridged Discord
server (or by leaving the voice channel).
Enforcement
We may, at our discretion and without notice,
remove a bridge, decline a link, or deny-list a
user, Discord server, or Matrix room that
violates these terms or is reported for abuse.
To report an abusive bridge, DM the bridge bot
(report <owner|guild|room> <value> [reason])
or email the contact above; a human reviews
every report. Nothing is actioned
automatically.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This is pre-1.0 software under active development; it may be unavailable, interrupted, or changed at any time, and may contain bugs. We do not guarantee that voice will be relayed reliably or at all.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to USD $0.
Third-party services
The bridge connects Discord and a Matrix homeserver (nether.im), which are independent services with their own terms and policies. Your use of Discord and of any Matrix homeserver is governed by their respective terms, not these.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms when the service changes; the “last updated” date reflects the current revision. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. You may stop using it at any time by unlinking your bridge(s) and removing the bots from your server.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Dark Collective operates from, and the service is provided from, the United States.
