Joining nether.im

nether.im is invite-only. There’s no signup form and no waiting list: an existing member invites you, and the invite is what lets you create an account. This page explains what we’re looking for and how to find someone to invite you.

Not looking for an interview, or just want to try Matrix? No hard feelings — see recommended homeservers for good public servers with open registration. You can still join our public rooms from any homeserver.

What we’re looking for

We keep nether.im small and tight-knit, so we want members who are clearly somebody — not necessarily famous, just established. Some identity with history behind it that shows you’re a real participant in some community and not a drive-by spammer. For example:

Membership is 18+, no exceptions, and joining means agreeing to the Code of Conduct. Read it before you apply — it’s short, and it’s honest about what we do and don’t allow.

How it works

It’s not a formal process:

  1. Ask an existing member for an invite. Know someone on nether.im? Ask them. Don’t know anyone yet? Say hello through one of the channels below; the mods are members too.
  2. Introduce yourself. Who are you, what do you do, where can we see it, and what brings you to Nether? A few honest sentences beat an essay.
  3. Agree to the Code of Conduct and confirm you’re 18+.
  4. Get your invite from the member, and create your account with it. The connection guide walks you through that and everything after.

Where to reach us
