Joining nether.im

nether.im is invite-based. There’s no signup form and no waiting list — you talk to a moderator, and if it’s a fit, you get a registration code that unlocks account creation. This page explains what we’re looking for and how to reach us.

Not looking for an interview, or just want to try Matrix? No hard feelings — see recommended homeservers for good public servers with open registration. You can still join our public rooms from any homeserver.

What we’re looking for

We keep nether.im small and tight-knit, so we want members who are clearly somebody — not necessarily famous, just established. Some identity with history behind it that shows you’re a real participant in some community and not a drive-by spammer. For example:

Membership is 18+, no exceptions, and joining means agreeing to the Code of Conduct. Read it before you apply — it’s short, and it’s honest about what we do and don’t allow.

How it works

It’s not a formal process. Whatever channel you use:

  1. Reach out and say you’re interested in a nether.im account.
  2. Introduce yourself. Who are you, what do you do, where can we see it, and what brings you to Nether? A few honest sentences beat an essay.
  3. Chat with a mod. Usually brief — we mostly want to know you’re a real person acting in good faith.
  4. Agree to the Code of Conduct, confirm you’re 18+, and you’ll get a registration code.
  5. Register with it — the connection guide walks you through the rest.

Where to reach us

Or: get vouched

If you already know a Nether member, the easiest path is to ask them to vouch for you. A current member introducing you to the mods carries a lot of weight — we’re a community built on people who know each other.
